The made-it Market

Charlys Gems was at the made-it market at the Cambridge Guildhall on Saturday 28th August!
It was a huge success and every one had a lovely day!

The next made-it market (Christmas special) at the Cambridge Guildhall will be on Saturday 27th November 2010, 10am - 5:00pm!
This is an excellent opportunity to buy local handmade crafts and goods for those all important Christmas presents!!!
It's free entry and there will be mulled wine and mince pies!!!

More information can be found at The made-it market website.

Well its been a very long time, and as usual a busy one!

I have been working hard creating silver etched cufflinks and earrings! These lovely handmade silver cufflinks and silver stud earrings have been decorated with a section of my drawings of vintage and charity shops, from my collection"Brought Back Again". The image has been etched on to the silver, each earring is unique. The design is very simple, but glamorous and are comfortable to wear.
They have been hallmarked by the London assay office,
come in a range of sizes and can also be custom made. For more details please see www.charlysgems.co.uk

A busy few weeks!!!

I cannot believe how quick the time is passing, it has been a busy few weeks for me!
I was busy preparing for my craft stall at the first made-it market in Cambridge.
It went very well and I got to meet some friendly fellow arty people.

My stall at the made-it market

Due to the sun being out, I have made the effort to get round to start sorting my garden out! I went and invested in some seeds and plants, so have been busy sowing seeds and started to plot the garden out in sections!!! The more pretty bright coloured flowers I can fit in the better!

Welcome to my Blog!

Hello and welcome to my first blog. I am currently working on my collection 'Brought back again.'

My collection is based around objects found in vintage and charity shops. Drawings and photographs of the objects have been developed into abstract shapes which have inspired the jewellery collection.
The collection consists of a series of panels, silver backed brooches, necklaces, and packets of buttons. I create the intensity of line by etching into the metal, and use colour provided by wet enamel.
I love the discordant and clashing nature of colours combined, and I enjoy the idea of creating a vibrant jewellery collection inspired by forgotten items, giving them a second life.

I am now busy creating earrings and cuff-links using some of the enamelled buttons I have created. Let me know what you think of my collection! It can be found on http://www.folksy.com/shops/CharlysGems
